Celebrating the world's oldest continuing cultures
Join thousands of people at Yabun, Australia's largest one-day festival celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Held annually on 26 January, Yabun brings communities together through music, culture, storytelling and connection.
Named after the Gadigal word meaning "music to a beat", Yabun has been a significant cultural gathering since 2001, building on the legacy of Survival Day events that have brought First Nations communities together for decades.
Presented by Yabun Festival organisers Gadigal Information Service, operators of Koori Radio, the free, all-ages festival features a vibrant program of established and emerging First Nations musicians, dancers, artists, speakers and cultural performers. Visitors can also explore market stalls, enjoy family-friendly activities and experience a diverse range of cultural experiences throughout the day.
A cornerstone of Sydney's cultural calendar, Yabun provides an opportunity to listen, learn and celebrate the strength, diversity and continuing contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through music, storytelling and community connection, the festival creates a powerful and welcoming space for people of all backgrounds to come together and engage with the world's oldest continuing cultures.
