Local councils will host their own activities with invited Australia Day Ambassadors – more than 100 will be out and about across NSW, taking part in local events and festivities.
Each Australia Day, these extraordinary people travel across NSW to diverse communities, from remote country towns to cities and along the coast, to engage with regional communities and share inspiring stories that capture the nation’s spirit.
Make a difference this Australia Day by supporting your local community and businesses. Simple efforts such as making a restaurant booking with friends or family, holidaying in NSW, exploring local attractions and buying locally made products will go a long way.
The program started with just nine Ambassadors in 1990, following the hugely successful 1988 bicentenary celebrations
Please note due to COVID, the events listed by Local Councils may be subject to change, please check the Council websites for the most up to date information.
