Australia Day 2021 is different due to COVID-19. Before contacting us, please check our frequently asked questions below.

Will there be fireworks? How can I watch the fireworks?

While there will be fireworks, only ticket holders will be allowed into Circular Quay after 5pm. 

Further ticket information will be announced in January 2021.

You will NOT be admitted into the Circular Quay foreshore area after 5pm unless you have a ticket for Australia Day Live OR a confirmed booking for a restaurant or venue. We encourage you to watch this concert and the fireworks on ABC TV or iview from 7:30 PM.

Why is the program different this year?

Due to COVID-19, some of events traditionally held in Sydney on 26 January are not going ahead in 2021. Events that are not going ahead in 2021 include:

  • The Wiggles Concert
  • Ferrython
  • Harbour Parade
  • Tug and Yacht Ballet
  • Tall Ships Race
  • Day-time activities on Circular Quay foreshore.

We look forward to welcoming these events back in 2022.

How can I apply to be a volunteer?

Due to COVID-19, some of events traditionally held in Sydney on 26 January are not going ahead in 2021. For this reason, we do not require volunteers this year. 

We greatly appreciate that you wanted to give your time to help us deliver spectacular Australia Day events for all to enjoy. We look forward to welcoming these events back in 2022. We encourage you to volunteer in 2022.

How do I get tickets to Australia Day Live at Sydney Opera House?

Crowd numbers are limited in keeping with COVID Safe guidelines.

Tickets to the Sydney Opera House forecourt have been offered only to frontline workers in public agencies via key NSW Government agencies and departments. 

A limited number of tickets to Circular Quay were released on a first come, first serve basis. Tickets booked out fast. 

You are encouraged to watch the concert from the comfort of your own home on ABC TV or on iview.

How do I get tickets to WugulOra Morning Ceremony?

A limited number of free tickets to WugulOra Morning Ceremony were released to the general public on a first come, first serve basis. Tickets booked out fast.

Crowd numbers are limited in keeping with COVID Safe guidelines. Only ticket holders will be admitted to the Headland Stage at Barangaroo Reserve.

You are encouraged to watch the ceremony from the comfort of your own home on ABC TV or on iview.

Will The Wiggles be performing at Tumbalong Park on Australia Day?

Australia Day 2021 activities and events will be significantly different to previous years due to COVID-19. The Wiggles Australia Day Concert at Tumbalong Park held on 26 January will not be going ahead in 2021.
