The Midday Salute, takes place at noon on Australia Day. It is a unique combination of cultural traditions and military displays in a tribute to the nation.
The Salute features an awe-inspiring showcase from the Australian Defence Forces. The Australian Army gives a 21-Gun Salute resonating from North Sydney, the Royal Australian Navy HMAS Canberra takes centre stage in Sydney Harbour and the Royal Australian Airforce perform a high octane fast jet flypast and handling display.
The Australian Navy’s Seahawk Helicopter soars above the harbour, proudly displaying the Australian flag, while the Wirawi, part of the Tribal Warrior Aboriginal Corporation fleet, conducts an on-water smoking ceremony, cleansing all who gathered.
The Midday Salute concludes with the large crowds singing the National Anthem around Circular Quay.
