Environmental Citizen of the Year Awards

The Environmental Citizen of the Year Awards, presented in partnership with Return and Earn, recognise environmental champions within communities.

In 2021, the environmental award features two categories:

  • Environmental Citizen of the Year (open age)
  • Young Environmental Citizen of the Year (school-aged)

Environmental Citizen of the Year (open age) nominees may be recognised for work such as:

  • efforts to preserve the environment within their local community
  • the ability to foster partnerships that achieve litter reduction and recycling outcomes
  • the use of the Return and Earn scheme to help fundraise for a meaningful cause.

Young Environmental Citizen of the Year (school-aged) nominees may be recognised for work such as:

  • efforts that contribute to a sustainable future
  • innovative ways to support the environment.

Local environmental award recipients can go in the running for the state winner title – a platform to further showcase their contribution to the environment.
