Dual Olympian Hannah Campbell-Pegg, TV presenter Scott McGregor and celebrity chef Lyndey Milan are among more than 100 Australia Day Ambassadors for 2018.
Australia Day Council of NSW Chairman Angelos Frangopoulos thanked the ambassadors for their involvement in the program and said that councils across the state will see inspirational Australians join their celebrations.
“The Australia Day Ambassador program, which began in NSW, has grown significantly over the 27 years. It’s great to see these wonderful Australians give their time to local festivities and community events.
“Australia Day ambassadors are from all walks of life and together they showcase the incredible community spirit we see every day here in New South Wales, but especially on Australia Day.”
The theme for this year’s Australia Day in NSW is Everyone, Every Story. From Olympians, Paralympians, figure skaters, fashion designers, actors, television presenters and community leaders, they all feature in the 2018 Ambassador line-up.
Sports lovers can look forward to sharing Australia Day with former NRL Player Corey Payne, dual Commonwealth Games medalist Alexandra Moore and Paralympic swimmers Annabelle Williams and Matthew Levy.
Among the newcomers this year are MasterChef winner Elena Duggan and world-record Paralympian swimmer Sam Bramham.
Mr Frangopoulos said some much-loved names will also return including entrepreneur Dick Smith and fashion designer Charlie Brown.
“Some of Australia’s best-known personalities are giving communities across our state the opportunity to share Australia Day with their favourite identities.
“The day is a celebration of what it means to be Australian and our ambassadors embody these values that enhance the Australia Day experience for everyone.”
