GIO Oz Day 10K
Australian wheelchair racers are set to clash with international rivals as the GIO Summer Down Under Series and Oz Day 10K celebrate 25 Years on the Road on Australia Day.
The GIO Summer Down Under Series attracts leading wheelchair track and road racers from around the world to compete in the prestigious event with the GIO Oz Day 10K a highlight. Australia’s premiere wheelchair road racer, Kurt Fearnley, will be striving to win the Men’s Open category in the GIO Oz Day 10K for the 10th consecutive year against a field including athletes from USA, Canada, Japan, UK and New Zealand
Spectators will have the opportunity to meet and have a photo taken with the athletes in a GIO Oz Day 10K themed photo booth complete with prop medals and trophies on Alfred Street. The photos can be shared photos onsite to social media and visitors will receive a print copy as a lasting memento of the day.
A large mounted TV screen will allow spectators to follow the progress of the competitors throughout the race.
Spectators are encouraged to congregate along the course route through the Rocks from 8.30am. The prize giving ceremony will take place on Alfred streets from 10am.
