Australia Day 2015 saw Hyde Park come alive and transform into a Summer Playground for Aussie kids and their families, proudly supported by Nickelodeon. The rain did not stop the celebrations, with kids and parents all braving the weather, dancing and singing along to their favourite characters!
Due to wet weather the scheduled Lord Mayor’s Citizenship Ceremony was moved to Town Hall, however, this did not diminish the proud new Australian’s or their families. Proudly supported by the City of Sydney, this event is highly significant to Australia Day, as it celebrates what makes our nation great – the people.Buzzing with family-friendly entertainment Hyde Park became the place to be where children got to see their favourite Nickelodeon television characters in real life and families got a chance to enjoy the free activities or relax with a bite to eat on the spacious grounds. With interactive areas including the story reading Book Nook, sporting games and superhero dress ups.
The stage was abuzz with performances by Dora the Explorer, Hi5, SpongeBob SquarePants, Play Along with Sam and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles all throughout the day. The action ended with a great big bang as Slime Time Live took over the main stage, which had little kids and big kids alike enjoying the gooey finale.
