    Bathurst Australia Day Celebrations

    The Bathurst Australia day celebrations will kick off at the Eglinton War Memorial Hall at 8am with a BBQ breakfast, official flag raising ceremony, the Australia Day Ambassador address by Paralympian Annabelle Williams.

    The Citizenship ceremony will be held in Machattie Park at 9am, followed by the Australia Day Awards at 11am.
    Australia Day by the Pool is a new addition for 2016 at the Bathurst Aquatic Centre. Entry is free between 12.30pm and 3.30pm with water activities, a sausage sizzle, free jumping castles and live music.

    Australia Day in Newcastle will start by welcoming more than 100 new citizens and awarding our Citizen, Young Citizen and Community Group of the Year at Newcastle City Hall.

    Celebrations will continue at Honeysuckle from 10am to 4pm with yacht races on the harbour, live music, dance and street performers, circus workshops and face painting for the kids and even an Aussie Animation Cinema at Newcastle Museum.

    The Celebrations at Wentworth Junction will have a brass band with the PS Ruby on display, the flag will be raised by the Buronga Gol Gol Lions Club kids and then the awards presented. After the awards Council supplies a free lunch to all who attend.

    The cricket match will be followed by a luncheon in the Conargo Village hall and an address by the Australia Day Ambassador and Conargo Shire Mayor. Sing Australia will also sing relevant Australia Day songs and local known poet, Alix Allitt, will rehearse an Australia Day poem. The Conargo Management Committee do a terrific lunch and all enjoy a friendly atmosphere.

    Urana Shire Council will be celebrating Australia Day in one of its five villages in 2016. It will be held at Boree Creek which has a population of approximately 110 people.

    8.30 will see the doors open of the new Supper Rooms at the Boree Creek Hall for a cup of Tea or Coffee and the famous Boree Creek Scones made by the local ladies. The Flag Raising and the National Anthem will be at 9.15 am with the Official Ceremony starting at 9.30 am.

    Following the Ceremony, the Australia Day address by our Ambassador Mr Andrew Lock OAM,an Australian Moutaineer. Introduction of the nominees for Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year and announcement of the winners, presentation of Student Achievement Awards for the 2015 School Year for the small Schools in our Shire being Urana Central School, Rand Public School, St. Francis Xavier School, Boree Creek Public School and Oaklands Central School and the closure of the Ceremony, morning tea will be served. Again we will enjoy the local ladies cooking skills.

    All residents and ratepayers of Urana Shire Council together with any visitors to the area are warmly welcomed to attend our Australia Day Celebrations.

A Citizenship Ceremony will also take place as part of the official program.

    Australia Day Celebrations in Wauchope 

    Come join us for a big "Aussie Breakfast" at the Wauchope Showground this Australia Day. Breakfastwill be available from 8.00am as well as a variety of games, not only for the little ones but for the bigger kids as well.  Come and check out the market stalls and variety of food stalls on offer throughout the day.  Entertainment include performances by Sing Australia and Hastings District Pipe Band. The official programme kicks off at 10.30am with a Welcome to Country. flag raising ceremony and addresses by local dignitaries. A Citizenship Ceremony will also be included as part of the official proceedings. Come along and meet our 2016 Australia Day Ambassador Bruce Venebles who will deliver his Australia Day Address and cut the official Australia Day cake. Entertainment will continue throughout the afternoon. Event concludes at 2.00pm.

    Australia Day Celebrations in Port Macquarie 

    Kicking off at 8.00am there will be handicraft, market and food stalls. From 9.00am check out the vintage car display, childrens games, jumping castles and slides. From 10.00am on stage entertainment will kick off with Sing Australia. Check out the Aquatic Activities that will take place along the Hastings River near Lady Nelson wharf from 10.00am until late afternoon. The official program will commence on Town Green at 3.00pm with a Welcome to Country followed by a flag raising ceremony and addresses by local dignitaries. A Citizenship Ceremony will also be included. Come along and meet our 2016 Australia Day Ambassador Bruce Venebles. "Port Macquarie's Got Talent" show will commence at 5.00pm and will run through to approximately 7.00pm which will mark the end of the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council 2016 Australia Day Celebrations.

    The morning commences with a senior and a junior triathlon. The next event is the youth council duck race. ( members of the youth council release 500 plastic ducks in the pool. Leading up to Australia Day they sell the ducks which are all numbered for $5.00) That is followed by the Cobar Yabbies business house, family or street swimming relay.     This year Snowy River Shire will be holding two formal Australia Day celebrations in Jindabyne and Adaminaby.

    In light of the current proposed changes in Local Government, this could potentially be the last “Snowy River Shire” Australia Day, so we encourage everyone to come along and celebrate with us.

    Council is very pleased that we will welcome Lindy Hou OAM: Paralympic Gold Medallist and World Champion, who will take part in our Australia Day celebrations as the official Australia Day Ambassador for Snowy River Shire.

    Celebrations will begin in Jindabyne at the Banjo Paterson Park from 9am, kindly hosted by the Lions Club of Jindabyne, where the community is invited to enjoy and be part of the flag raising ceremony, Ambassador address, Australia Day Award presentations, along with a BBQ breakfast.

    The celebrations will then move to Adaminaby by the Big Trout at 3pm, where the official party will address the community once more on this our nations day.

    Australia Day Backyard Baaaa-becue

    Ku-ring-gai Council’s annual Australia Day celebrations will once again be held at Bicentennial Park, West Pymble on Tuesday 26 January 2016 from 10.30am to 1pm.

    BBQ brunch prepared by local service groups Wahroonga Rotary and St Ives Lions will be offered from 10.30am to the community in return for a gold coin donation.

    Come along to Carss Bush Park on the foreshore of the Georges River this Australia Day and enjoy one of Sydney’s most popular and vibrant family celebrations of our national identity.

    For over 25 years this event has been the platform for a dynamic entertainment program which showcases great live music, diverse cultural performances, amusing roving entertainers and market stallholders selling clothing, novelties, crafts and foods from around the world. The peak of the event is reached at 9.00pm with a brilliant display of fireworks over Kogarah Bay which is enjoyed by event goers as well as Sydney-siders across our city’s southern suburbs. Families and friends gather in their tens of thousands to this beautiful venue to enjoy the Australia Day Celebrations.

    This event is generously supported onsite by Kogarah State Emergency Service, St John Ambulance, Kogarah Fire Brigade and the NSW Police Kogarah Local Area Command.

    Entertainment

    Marketstalls open for breakfast trade at 10am. The stage formalities begin at 11.00am with a moving Citizenship Ceremony for fifty new Australians. This section of the day also includes a traditional “Acknowledgement to Country”, Official Opening by the Mayor of The City of Kogarah, a beautiful performance of the Australian National Anthem by Endeavour Harmony Chorus and the announcement of Kogarah’s 2016 Citizen of the Year and Australia Day Ambassador.

    The Australia Day at Carss Bush Park program consists of terrific bands; The Party Agents and Matchbox Rock and Roll Band and also features community performers dedicated to dance and song styles from all over the world.

    Other Activities include 7D Interactive Mobile Cinema, Carss Park Cottage Museum tours and Amusement Rides.

    Road Closures and Parking

    During this event the following road closures are in place in Carss Park at:
    Corner of Allawah Avenue and Carlton Crescent (resident only access available)
    Corner of Carwar Avenue and Carlton Crescent.

    Parking is available on Carss Park Flats via Carlton Crescent and Todd Park for a gold coin with all proceeds donated to Kogarah's State Emergency Service.

    Celebrate all things Australian at The Entrance. Bring the whole family along for an action packed day full of free entertainment and fun activities at Memorial Park.

    Entertainment will be held on both stages including live bands, Blacksmith display, Ice cream eating competition, NSW Corps of Marines, firing of the original 1820 Carronade Canon, Corporal Punishment, Pistol Duals, Rhythm Hut Drumming Circle, Ducks for Busks plus lots more. There will also be loads of stalls.

    The Sea FM (101.3)Fireworks Spectacular will be held at 9pm on The Entrance Waterfront to finish off the night with a bang.
