It has been a highlight of the Australia Day harbour program since it commenced since 2003 and we will be working towards it returning as a highlight of Australia Day in 2009. Please contact us via email at AustraliaDay@dpc.nsw.gov.au ****************************************************************************************************************** Over the last 100 years, surf lifesavers have rescued more than 500,000 people on the nation’s beaches. 2007 will mark the centenary celebrations of Surf Lifesaving in Australia, where the Australian community will be engaged in recognising the contribution of the surf lifesaver in the past, present and future and, to maintain the relevance and sustainability of Surf Life Saving. The Australia Day Council of NSW is proud to support this unique humanitarian organisation through events and celebrations on 26 January 2007. Australia Day celebrations will be kicked off with hundreds of nippers taking to the water in The Australia Day Surfboard Challenge. The Australia Day Parade on Sydney Harbour will be led by a flotilla of Surf Boats in recognition of 100 Years of surf lifesaving in Australia.
